Heading Home (We HOPE!)

While the dreary weather appears to be set in, the spirits here are improving. Sunday evening Gary made an ER visit at Willis Knighton due to a fever, and yesterday had a follow up appointment with a Shreveport oncologist. He had actually talked to the transplant doctor at Tulane before he saw Gary. The BMT doc, Dr. Safah, wants to see us when we get back (she had said Thursday, but their clinic is not going to be able to open until Monday.) Blood tests at Willis Knighton indicated NORMAL kidney function. We have reason to be confident the BMT will proceed!!

Jennifer and I packed this morning hoping to drive home this afternoon, but the weather just wouldn't let up. We are planning to leave first thing in the morning. I've talked to a neighbor who says our house is undamaged. Word is that power is back on at our place, Mark and Jenn's, and her folks also. Jeremy is still without power, and he's been living that way since the storm! He's a trooper! Not hearing from Mark as often, but he is well and working hard.

We are incredibly grateful to Memaw, Mr. Billy, Vallie and Terry for putting us up in such wonderful fashion again. You are a blessing and we love you.

Hi Gary and Robbi, glad to hear all is well with you and the house. Sue and I faired pretty well. We lost a tree and a lot of limbs, but no damage to the house. We were without power for 30+ hours, but have a 5KW generator for the refrigerator, fans, and lights. We were about to move into the camper when the electricity came back on. Wasn't too bad without A/C. Glad Gary is feeling better and the transplant is still on the schedule. We will continue to check in. Sorry for the break, I didn't have internet/cable or power to use the computer. I like your new wireless card. Might have to try one of those. Take care, God Bless Ike and Sue.

Storm was interesting, first time in one and I slept in the backseat of my car in the fifth floor parking garage listening to the wind howl.

Power was out for three misreable days at the house. It's now back on.

I've been working the least three days with the LANG executing foot patrols in high crime neighborhoods. For those of you affiliated with the Guard B Co. 2-156th out of New Iberia has done an excellent job of supporting us here in JP. All the JP guys assigned as liasons are enjoying the mission and we are learning a lot from each other.

Working on foot with these young Infantrymen has proven that I have become an old infantryman. My feet are killing me.

Off tomorrow for one day. Back on twelves till at least thursday. Transfer to nightwatch on sunday.

The storm was really a disappointment it really died out in St Martinsville after the eye hit use. Our guys (1021st EN CO VERT) spent a couple of days picking up sticks and my have cut 15 trees total. We moved back to home station (Covington) on Friday and running small missions at this point. I am good just tired of all the BS that I have to deal with but this is the job and I will do it.
Jennifer is well and Isabella is still a two year old. We are both wising that this pregnancy will end. How ever it is in gods hands and on his timing that we will meet the newest Hammett.
Back to work for a minute everyone is on orders until the 15th and we are starting to look at IKE and what he is doing. I will keep everyone updated on everything.
